Convert time between zones and find the best meeting times
Choose the city you're converting FROM and the city you want to convert TO using the dropdowns above.
The source time defaults to now. Change the date or time to convert a different moment. The target updates instantly.
The green bar shows when both zones are in business hours (9am-5pm local). This is your ideal meeting window.
Scheduling meetings across time zones requires consideration of local business customs. While this tool defaults to 9am-5pm as standard business hours, actual norms vary:
| Region | Typical Business Hours | Work Week | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Mon–Fri | East Coast starts earlier |
| United Kingdom | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Mon–Fri | Lunch typically 12-1pm |
| Japan | 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM | Mon–Fri | Overtime culture is common |
| Germany | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Mon–Fri | Earlier start, punctuality valued |
| China | 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM | Mon–Fri | Lunch break 12-2pm common |
| UAE / Middle East | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM | Mon–Fri (was Sun–Thu) | Friday is holy day |
| India | 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM | Mon–Fri | Some work Saturdays |
| Australia | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Mon–Fri | Sydney/Melbourne dominate |
Rotate meeting times. If you regularly meet with teams in distant time zones, alternate who takes the early-morning or late-night slot. This builds goodwill and prevents burnout.
Avoid Monday morning and Friday afternoon in either timezone. Monday mornings are for planning, and Friday afternoons see lower attendance. Tuesday-Thursday 10am-3pm in the overlap window is the sweet spot.
Send calendar invites with timezone confirmation. Always include both time zones in the meeting title: "Sprint Review (9am EST / 2pm GMT)". This prevents confusion around DST transitions.
Select the source city and target city from the dropdowns. The converter shows the current time in both zones. To convert a specific time, change the source date/time — the target updates automatically in real-time.
The best time is when both parties' business hours overlap. Check the green section of the overlap bar above. For example, New York (EST) and London (GMT) overlap from 9am–12pm EST / 2pm–5pm GMT — a 3-hour window.
DST can shift the time difference by one hour depending on the season. The converter automatically accounts for DST in both zones. Note that DST start/end dates differ between the US (March/November) and Europe (March/October), creating brief periods where the offset is different by one hour.
Select both cities in the dropdowns above. The time difference is displayed between the panels. For example: "Tokyo is 14 hours ahead of New York." The difference accounts for current DST status in both locations.
Yes. Check the overlap bar to find a consistent meeting time. Note that during DST transitions (different dates in different countries), the overlap window may shift by one hour for a few weeks each year.
